Under pressure: comparing in situ and boat tagging methods using time-to-event analyses

چکیده
Abstract Background With the increase in telemetry studies over past decade, improving understanding of how different tagging methods influence probability presence a receiver array is important maximizing resulting data. Disappearance from may be due to mortality surgery complications, tag loss, predation, or emigration. Internally fish on boat can cause barotrauma injuries, increased stress prolonged handling times, predation after have been released back into water. Conducting situ internal acoustic at depth capture removes stresses and simplifies release method, which improve survival decrease risk disappearance array. In this study, we used 8 years data determine if method (in versus boat) influenced likelihood being detected 4 6 days event. Results At tagging, Kaplan–Meier curves revealed that for tagged was 66% compared 90% situ. Tagging only variable significantly affect based Cox proportional hazards models, with ~ 75% less likely disappear both tagging. Examining separately, time marginally boat-tagged no variables had significant effect fish. Conclusions internally Other factors little influence, but correlation limited what could included models. Implanting tags not practical every species environment, given demonstrated here, strongly suggest it considered where applicable.

Comparing Time-Use Estimates of Two Different Time Diary Methods
Objectives: Time-use has become an important field of research in social and medical sciences. Time diary is the most popular method for measuring time-use that has 2 different methods of administration including yesterday and tomorrow diary. The present study aimed to compare these methods of measuring time-use. Methods: This cross-sectional comparative study was conducted on 256 under 5-yea...
متن کاملComparison of tagging single-nucleotide polymorphism methods in association analyses
Several methods to identify tagging single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are in common use for genetic epidemiologic studies; however, there may be loss of information when using only a subset of SNPs. We sought to compare the ability of commonly used pairwise, multimarker, and haplotype-based tagging SNP selection methods to detect known associations with quantitative expression phenotypes. ...
متن کاملSensitivity analyses comparing time-to-event outcomes only existing in a subset selected postrandomization and relaxing monotonicity.
In randomized studies researchers may be interested in the effect of treatment assignment on a time-to-event outcome that only exists in a subset selected after randomization. For example, in preventative HIV vaccine trials, it is of interest to determine whether randomization to vaccine affects the time from infection diagnosis until initiation of antiretroviral therapy. Earlier work assessed ...
